Althought the DX11 and TX81z have less operators than the DX7 they have an advantage over the DX7 by using other waveforms than just sine waves. . These banks showcase the true capability of 4 operator FM. Many of the the patches were inspired from patches from the SY99. The patches go far beyond the "canned" samples sound of the ROMplers of the period. The patches will work on older 4 operator FM synths like the DX21 except that patches that use the other waveforms will have a dulled tone due to the operators using only sine waves. If these patches came out in the 80's they my have changed history. The banks come in two formats, SysEx and General MIDI files.
